Question

I am trying to install the Cambridge Audio USB 2.0 driver on my PC. My computer says "Setup requires that the device is plugged in. Please connect the device you want to install and make sure it is turned on. If your device is currently connected, please unplug and replug it." Why is this?

Answer

To install the USB 2.0 driver from our website, you device needs to be in USB2.0 mode. This is achieved in different ways for the different products.

If you have a DacMagic 100; Press & hold the Source button while bringing the unit out of standby . One of the digital input source LEDs will illuminate to indicate the current USB setting: Digital 1 represents USB Audio Class 1.0, likewise Digital 2 is USB Audio Class 2.0.

If you have a DacMagic Plus; Press in the ‘Filter/ Phase’ button during power up. One of the digital input source LEDs will illuminate to indicate current USB setting: Digital 1 represents USB Audio Class 1.0, likewise Digital 2 is USB Audio Class 2.0. USB Class is selected by turning the Volume knob, once set simply press the Volume knob and DacMagic Plus will restart in your chosen mode.

If you have a Stream Magic 6; This is changed by adjusting the "USB Mode" in settings menu of the device.
